Broadband Internet is defined by the FCC as an Internet Connection faster than 200kbps. There are two forms of broadband Internet service: cable and DSL.

Cable Internet is delivered with your cable television. Cable Internet service is shared medium, which means that everyone on the circuit (neighboorhood) shares the same connection. You are sold a shared internet connection, which means that everyone shares the same connection. You might have a shared 13 MBPS service, which is divided by the number of users on the curcuit. There was a number of lawsuits based on the fact that subscribers were sold shared service, and after the neighboorhood built up, was slower than dialup.

Dynamic Subscriber Link (DSL) is a dedicated connection to the Internet. When a subscriber has a 6,000 kpbs service, it is a dedicated service. DSL provides the best in DSL service, and ATT offers basic analog phone servic for $5.88 per month. We require ATT Home Phone Service, to provide DSL dedicated services.
